Note that when singing teachers talk about pronunciation, the understanding of the lyrics from the listeners' perspective is often NOT the top-most thing we think about.
We insist on good enunciation because:
1) It brings out the best of your tone. Shaping your mouth correctly for the various vowels gives your tone a clear quality (instead of sounding 'muddy')
2) Knowing how to pronounce certainconsonantscorrectly can be the missing pieceto hit the high notes.
(Yes I mean it as it is. Many of my students had every single technique correct down to a T, but if they do not shape the mouth correctly or pronounce the consonants in the right way, they still struggle with the high notes).
Most people would think that there's nothing wrong with their diction (esp since everybody understands what they say!!)
So please don't be defensive when I say that..... my personal experience in teaching singing is that... I still end up having to teach diction as necessary knowledge in my lessons to every single one of my students, even if they speak really well.
Statistically, 99.9% of them get it wrong for the pronunciation for singing:( (yes, even for the very well-spoken students)
Oh have i mentioned that you pay the same price whether it's for your kid, or your kid and yourself, or yourself and 2 kids, or for you and a family member who lives in the same household etc? It's online and you pay per account! (Time for workshop is based on Singapore time, UTC +8)
The workshop is targeted at 10-16 year-olds for their June holidays, but ADULTS are very welcome to join too.
Because it's intended for 10-16 year-olds, you can be sure that my materials are broken down to very easily digestible parts for best comprehension. And there will be quizzes and 'hands-on' activities to make sure that the knowledge sinks in fully.
There will also be a Q&A segment at the end where you can ask me anything 'live'!
Sign up early to avoid disappointment. See you on the other side!
"If you have kids around this age group, do consider! Bevlyn is really very good at what she does. She can simplify very technical terms and techniques and help me to grasp them immediately. I really that think this is very useful!"

Improve Your Child's Pronunciation + Voice Projection

Time: Mon (4 short sessions per day) 10am - 1045am; 11am - 1145am; 2pm - 245pm; 3pm - 345pm Tue (4 short sessions per day) 10am - 1045am; 11am - 1145am; 2pm - 245pm; 3pm - 345pm
There will be "hands-on" component, cognitive training, quizzes to make sure that participants understand the underlying principles.
Is this workshop strictly for 10-years-old and above?
Based on my personal teaching experiences, children below the age of 10 may have insufficient vocabulary and face reading fluency for pop song lyrics. However if you think that your child has good reading fluency and is able to read pop song lyrics well, he/she will be very welcome to sign up!
Is there an age limit?
Technically, adults can register too :)
Can my whole family learn together?
YES! One of the perks of online workshops is that your household can have additional bonding time by learning a new skill together. You may register for 1 child but learn as a household :)
What do I need to prepare for the workshop?
Nothing! Just be sure to dress comfortably and have a good space for stretching and lying down too. There will be some worksheets that you may wish to print out for your kids (or have them access the worksheets using a computer).
What can I expect from this workshop?
You will hear a difference to how you pronounce words, and also experience how you may project your voice better. We will look through many commonly mispronounced (or weakly pronounced) vowels and consonants and practise the correct movements for speaking and singing purposes. Well, it will be fun for sure!
Other than the language difference, are there any other differences in the singing methods taught in the English vs Mandarin workshops? Do we choose one between the two workshops or will it be a duplicate to sign up for both?
In terms of singing techniques, both workshops will have the same information. For the Mandarin workshop, I'm introducing some extra consonants to pay attention to because I notice that Singaporean children tend to mispronounce s/sh, z/zh, c/ch. The tongue twisters will be different too because the language is different. If your child would like to attend both workshops, the Mandarin workshop will feel like a recap of teachings (with different materials to work on). It will definitely drive in the learning even more!
Will there be notes provided for the students to follow & practice along?
Yes I will send the song list over, along with lyrics and worksheets for the students to print out in advance cos I'll require them to do some 'circling' of certain vowels/consonants as part of training (if you are not able to print them out, you may opt to let her highlight using Microsoft word on the computer).
Will the online workshops be recorded for students' reference & practice purpose?
Yes I understand that the participants may need more time to recap and review the lessons learnt. The workshops will be recorded but will be made available only to participants till 31 Dec 2021.
I can't make it for this workshop, but I'm keen to try private lessons, or be kept informed of upcoming workshops.
Yes sure, please join my mailing list to be informed of upcoming workshops, and receive specially crafted singing tips for my subscribers. Private lessons can be booked here.
"I've only had two lessons with Ms Bevlyn and I already feel like I've improved in leaps and bounds from prior to the lessons.
She is really knowledgeable and does not hesitate to answer any of my questions about singing.
Her explanations are also very concise!

"I just came off my first lesson with Bevlyn and it left me in complete awe!
Firstly, Bevlyn is very nice and patient, a true teacher that gives the right guidance, and actively gives correct direction in technique.
Through just this one lesson, and just through changing my breathing technique, I was able to reach higher notes which I never thought possible before today, AND with such ease too! She took the time to also help me understand the mechanics of a few different techniques so that I was able to implement it correctly.
I still can't believe the results and I can't thank her enough!
I recommend her lessons 150% ! Thanks a million, Bevlyn!"

Whichever part of the world you come from...
I've taught countless people fromSingapore, Malaysia, China, U.S.A, France, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia etc.
... no country is too far with effective virtual vocal lessons!
I just had my first lesson with Bevlyn and in just a short period of time, my questions about singing techniques were explained clearly.
She taught me proper techniques specially breathing which I always get confused and always had doubts if I'm doing it correctly.
The lesson was fun and full of laughter. She is nice, passionate and fun teacher who really knows the craft very well!
I've been a fan of her music and singing for years and I'm thrilled that I'm now taking lessons from her.
Thanks Bevlyn! Looking forward to the next lesson!
